Producing quality working Australian Shepherds & Red Angus!

Our dogs are used here on the ranch where we run 600+ head commercial cow/calf operation of Angus/Simmental influence cattle. We are currently developing our purebred herd with qualities such as udder, temperament, feet, longevity, and maternal superiority at the forefront of our program. We strive to produce quality animals that would fit into a wide variety of programs; from easy calving heifer bulls to power producing cow bulls and females that will stay in your program for the years to come. We have also added a 150 lamb/ewe commercial operation, and a purebred painted desert flock.

The dogs are an essential part of our operation and success, therefore we do not breed often and breed only for our own needs. Our litters are chosen specifically to produce biddable hard working dogs that are intelligent, genetically sound, and built for ranch life. We intend to produce pups that are versatile enough to help with chores at home, be competitive in the trial arena or performance venues, and to be a great family member!

Building a Legacy!

To the dog who started it all. She was my first introduction to what a stock dog could be; she took me to my first clinic, and she was able to walk me through my first experiences on a cattle operation... with varying degrees of what one would consider successful.

14 years, in 14 years, Mya taught me humility, determination, and no matter how many tears never give up. She had more grit, determination, and desire than I could shake a stick at… literally. She taught me more than I could ever teach her – I owe her more than I can ever return. Tough as nails and beyond forgiving. I could make a million mistakes and she would, not so patiently wait for me to figure my sh!t out. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to own a dog such as Mya and will be forever blessed for the time we had.

She produced my first litter of pups, and at the time, I didn’t have a kennel name. I didn’t come from a ranch or have any attachments to a particular name. So, I asked Kyle if we could ask his grandpa for permission to use 'Golden Sunset Ranch', and of course, there was no hesitation! Just a few weeks ago, I got a letter in the mail stating that GS Ranch is now registered permanently with ASCA! When we got into raising purebred Red Angus cattle, we needed a prefix; it seemed only fitting to use Golden Sunset. You will also find Mya in our logo! She was a huge piece of our operation, from showing us what a good dog could help us accomplish to helping us build a legacy! It is amazing to be able to look back and see how one little dog had such a huge impact on our lives and how we will continue to remember her. RIP Mya, my first and the beginning of a legacy!
